Houghton Community Broadcasting Honored With Five Awards From Michigan Association of Broadcasters

Houghton (February 15, 2018)—Houghton Community Broadcasting is pleased to announce that they have won five 2017 Broadcast Excellence Awards from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters (MAB).

The awards were presented at the Great Lakes Media Show at The Lansing Center in Lansing, MI on March 7, 2018.

Houghton Community Broadcasting brought home the following awards in the Commercial Radio Category for Market 4 of Michigan:

  • Special Show Broadcast Personality or Team—Best (Deer Hunter’s Roundup, produced by Kevin Ericson, WHKB-FM)
  • Feature/Use of Medium—Best (Jammed Together: The Keweenaw Roller Girls, produced by Rick Allen, WOLV-FM)
  • Sports—Best (Keweenaw Report Sports, produced by Todd Van Dyke, WOLV-FM)
  • Morning Show Broadcast Personality or Team—Merit (Keweenaw’s Own Morning Show with John Carroll, WOLV-FM)
  • Commercial—Merit (Superior Equipment-Honda Challenge, produced by John Carroll, WOLV-FM)

Houghton Community Broadcasting operates three radio stations broadcasting in the Keweenaw Peninsula, including 97.7 FM The Wolf (WOLV), K-Bear 102.3 FM (WHKB) and 99.3 FM—1400 AM The Lift (WCCY).
