State Help for Disaster Communities in Need

As lower Michigan has been experiencing an early thaw season The Governor’s office has issued a statement thanking local officials and first responders for their continued efforts in addressing flood conditions and keeping Michigan Residents safe.

 

Gov. Snyder said. “The state is prepared to assist local communities very quickly should the need for additional resources become necessary.”

 

In Kalamazoo, kayakers and jet skiers made their way through the flooded neighborhoods over the weekend.

 

Flooding of the Kalamazoo River crested late Friday night but officials say the water level is expected to remain above flood levels until this evening forcing many families to alternative shelter.

 

Other local emergencies have been declared in the city of Lansing, and the counties of Clair, Ionia, and Newaygo.  Lt. Gov. Calley said.  “The Michigan State Police, and other agencies, will continue to be engaged with local emergency management coordinators.
