HOUGHTON
Henry G. “Hank” Turcotte, 87, a resident of Heritage Manor, Houghton, and former Atlantic Mine resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at UP Health System-Marquette with family by his side.
He was born March 31, 1930, in Trimountain, Michigan, a son of the late Henry and Florence (Beauchamp) Turcotte, Sr., and attended the Adams Township Schools.
Hank was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1947-1950.
Hank was married to the former Marilyn Chaput on August 5, 1950, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Atlantic Mine. She preceded him in death on November 11, 2008.
Hank was employed as a meat cutter at the former A&P Foods in Hancock, Kivi’s IGA of South Range, and Central Foods of Houghton. He then worked at Northern Hardwoods, retiring in 1983 due to health reasons.
Hank was a member of Holy Family Parish in South Range and a retired member of the Atlantic Mine Volunteer Fire Department, now Adams Township Volunteer Fire Department. He played fastpitch softball for many years for Bosch Brewery. In the early years of their marriage, Hank and Marilyn enjoyed camping around the Lake Superior Circle with friends. During deer season, Hank enjoyed spending time at the hunting camp. He was a great cook and was known for his booyah.
He also enjoyed doing word search puzzles, woodworking and watching old Western TV shows. He was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers, Red Wings and Lions.
Hank is survived by his children, Kathy Perfetti of Painesdale, David (Marilyn) Turcotte of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Patti (Dan) Coffey of Toivola, Terry Turcotte of Houghton, Tim Turcotte of Toivola; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Ellis Jones of Hubertus, Wisconsin; as well as numerous niece, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents and wife, Hank was also preceded in death by a son, Clark in 2005; a son-in-law, Frank Perfetti; two brothers, Cletus Turcotte and Jerry Turcotte; and three sisters, Cecelia Harris, Marlene Lewis and Barbara Jones.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2018, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Mountain View Mortuary of South Range, where a parish prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 23, 2018, at Holy Family Parish in South Range, with Rev. Fr. John Martignon as celebrant. There will be no visitation prior to the mass. Spring burial with military rites will be in the Mountain View Cemetery in South Range.
