Lake Linden: Marie “Mary” Geshel, 83, resident of Lake Linden, passed away on February 4, 2018, following a brief illness.
She was born October 17, 1934, a daughter of Irving and Florida Dulong. She was a graduate of Lake Linden-Hubbell High School.
She worked as the preschool teacher for a generation of Lake Linden area children at Lake Linden-Hubbell Elementary.
She was married to Ralph Geshel on June 18, 1955. He was the last casualty of the C&H Mining Company, in an accident in 1968.
Mary was a member of Saint Joseph Church in Lake Linden where she taught catechism and served on the church council for many years. She was also a member of the American Legion Post 90 Auxiliary.
She was a faithful person and embraced the power of prayer. She loved to travel and was excited about her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, husband, brothers-Reuben and Walter, and sisters-Elaine and Dorothy.
She is survived by: 2 sons-Brian (Michelle) of Hubbell and Kevin (Lori) of Painesdale; 7 grandchildren-Brian (Alina), Christopher, Dillon (Sarah), Alexi, Wyatt (Sheila), Jake, and Aliina; 4 great-grandchildren-Watson, Sawyer, Everett, and Clayton; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 8, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Linden with Fr. Joseph Boakye Yiadom to officiate. The visitation will be from 3 until 5:00 P.M. and 6 until 9:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 7 at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden with a parish prayer service at 7:00. Spring burial will be at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
