With temperatures hovering just above zero, it’s good to think that the Houghton County Fair is just six months away–and some people are already getting prepared.
The registration deadline for the Market Beef project is February 15th. Youth ages 9 to 19 from Houghton or Keweenaw County are eligible. Steers must be weighed and tagged with RFID tags and that information entered on the registration forms found at houghtoncountyfair.com.
Forms can be turned in by mail or dropped off (1500 Birch Street, Hancock), emailed to houghtoncountyfair@hotmail.com or faxed to 482-2101 but must arrive no later than February 15th. Contact information can be found on keweenawreport.com.
After the form is received, the superintendents will then schedule a visit to the farm.
The regular monthly meeting of the Houghton County Fair Board is being held Thursday at 7pm in the SISU Room of the Houghton County Arena.
