Two Snowmobilers Injured In Ontonagon County

Two snowmobilers were injured in separate accidents on Tuesday in Ontonagon County.

The first one happened on Trail #13 near Kangas Road in Greenland Township shortly after 11:00am.  The Ontonagon Sheriff’s Office says Randy Thayer of Lansing left the trail to climb a hill when he turned his snowmobile to the right and lost control. The snowmobile rolled over, throwing the driver from it, injuring him. Thayer was taken to Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital by Sonco ambulance.  His condition was not reported.

The second accident happened around 5:30pm on Trail #12 near Stimac Road in Ontonagon township.  The sheriff’s office says Phillip Yerty of Imlay City left the trail and struck a series of small trees.  Yerty was thrown from the sled and injured.  He was taken to Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital by Sonco ambulance.  His condition was also not reported.
