Ronald Steven Mihelich, 78, a lifelong resident of Laurium passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2018 following a long illness at the Omega House in Houghton.
He was born on November 26, 1939 in Calumet to the late Steven and Frances (Mayworm) Mihelich.
He attended the local schools.
Ron was introduced into the family business, Mihelich Tallow and Grease Service, during his teenage years. After his father passed away, he took over the business and operated it for over 60 years, retiring in 2016. He also owned and operated the Mihelich Trucking Company for a short time period.
Some of his favorite memories were taking his children on road trips. He loved to jump in his car and hit the road. His favorite place to visit was Detroit.
Ron will be remembered as being an animal lover. His dogs were his best friends, they were always by his side.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents, and his granddaughter, Sara Marie.

Grandchildren: Steven, Brandon, Jacob, Ty, Daymen, Coleton, and Nikiah

And numerous nephews and cousins.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home at 5:00 pm. Friends may call at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 from 3:00 pm until the time of service.
Burial will take place in the spring at the Lake View Cemetery.
