In high school boys basketball last night, Calumet downed Houghton 57-48. Travis Ojala scored 19 for the Copper Kings. Brad Sirard had 18 for the Gremlins.

Finlandia
The Finlandia University men’s hockey team skates at Trine University tonight, and Adrian College tomorrow. The women’s hockey team visits Concordia-Wisconsin for games tonight and tomorrow.
The Finlandia women’s basketball team plays at Crown College tonight, and the University of Northwestern in St. Paul tomorrow. The men’s team also plays at the University of Northwestern tomorrow, and then visits Martin Luther College on Sunday.
MTU/NMU
The Michigan Tech women’s basketball team defeated Davenport University 82-54 yesterday. The Huskies outscored the Panthers 24-4 in the second quarter to put the game away early. Elizabeth Kelliher paced Tech with 18 points.
The MTU men’s team downed Davenport 71-64. Kyle Monroe scored 41 for the Huskies.
Both Tech teams will entertain Northern Michigan University Sunday afternoon. The women’s game will start at 1:00, and the men’s contest at 3:00.
The Tech hockey team skates at Ferris State tonight and tomorrow night.
The NMU hockey squad visits Alaska-Anchorage tonight and tomorrow night.

The Portage Lake Pioneers will visit the Marquette Mutineers tonight, and the Fox Cities Ice Dogs tomorrow night.
The Calumet Wolverines have the weekend off.
NBA
The Detroit Pistons entertain the Oklahoma City Thunder tomorrow. Tip-off is at 5:00 on 99.3 The Lift.
NHL
The Detroit Red Wings suffered an ugly 5-1 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks last night. Jimmy Howard started in goal for Detroit, but was replaced by Petr Mrazek midway through the first period, after allowing three goals on the first nine shots he faced. The Wings have five days off because of the all-star break. They’ll return to action Wednesday at home against the San Jose Sharks. Pregame coverage will begin at 7:40 on 99.3 The Lift.
MLB
The Milwaukee Brewers revamped their outfield yesterday. First, the Crew traded four minor leaguers to the Miami Marlins for Christian Yelich. Yelich is 26. He hit .282 and scored 100 runs for Miami last season. Among the players Milwaukee gave up was their top-rated prospect, outfielder Lewis Brinson. Milwaukee also agreed to a deal with outfielder Lorenzo Cain. Cain is 31, and hit .300 for Kansas City last season. If he passes a physical, the contract is said to be worth 80-million dollars over five years. Both Yelich and Cain are considered good defensive players.
