It was only the second meeting of the year for the Houghton City Council but it was a memorable one because it was the last for Scott MacInnes. He has officially stepped down as City Manager of Houghton, holding the position since 1997 and many others along the way as well. MacInnes says the future is bright for Houghton.
New City Manager Eric Waara will take over for MacInnes, who says he wants his tenure to be defined as a time when everyone came together to build the city into what it is today.
MacInnes will continue to assist the city until his contract finishes at the end of this year. Also, all four resolutions from the meeting were accepted including partnering with the city of Marquette on a satellite SmartZone and a payment to Bacco Construction for their work on the water and sewer projecy last summer.
