Obituary: Francis H. ”Frannie” Marcotte

Hubbell: Francis H. ”Frannie” Marcotte, 90, resident of Hubbell, passed away peacefully, with family by his side, on January 2, 2017, following a long illness

He was born May 13, 1927, a son of Henry and Melvina (Rock) Marcotte. He attended St. Cecilia School in Hubbell.
 
At age 16, Frannie went to work on the Great Lakes ships, before enlisting in the Navy to serve on the LST45 during World War II.  Following the war, he returned to work for C&H Mining until it closed in 1968.  Then, he worked for Northern Hardwoods for 25 years until he retired.  Later, he worked for Torch Lake Township for 7 years.

He was married to Beatrice Adams at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Houghton on May 25, 1946.  She passed away on March 29, 2012.

He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Hubbell until it closed. He was currently a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Linden. He had served the church as an usher.  He was a member of the Hubbell VFW Post 4624 for 70 years.
 
He liked Detroit Tigers baseball and the Green Bay Packers.  He enjoyed walks to the Hungarian Falls with his special dog-“Blacky”

He was preceded in death by: his parents, wife, a sister-Eleanor Gareau, and a brother-Russell Marcotte, along with a special Aunt-Peg Lasanen.
 
He is survived by: 5 children- William F. (Marilyn) Marcotte of Phoenix, AZ, Richard J. (Joan F.) Marcotte of Bootjack, Marlene (Mark) Igo of Washington State, Joanie (Tony) Dupuis of Lake Linden, Marie (Michael) Gervais of Bootjack; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; a sister-Henrietta(George) LaMotte, along with nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, January 5, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Linden with Fr. Joseph Boakye Yiadom to officiate. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 4, at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden with a parish prayer service at 7:30. Burial will be at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Omega House in Houghton.
