Tigers Fumble Away Loss to Chisox
The White Sox scored five runs off Rick Porcello in the first two innings, and beat the Tigers yesterday 6-1. Three of those runs were unearned, thanks to three Detroit errors, plus a misplay in left field by J.D. Martinez that could have been ruled an error, but wasn’t.

The Tigers open a series at Cleveland this afternoon. David Price will start against Corey Kluber. Hear the first pitch at 4:05 on FM 99.3 and AM 1400, WCCY.

Kansas City’s game against Cleveland was suspended by rain with the Royals trailing 4-2 in the bottom of the 10th inning. The game will be finished on September 22nd. That leaves Detroit trailing Kansas City by a half-game in the American League Central Division.

As expected, pitcher Kyle Lobstein has been called back up to the Tigers from Toledo. He’ll start tomorrow against the Indians. Major League team rosters can expand today for the final month of the season. Detroit also added pitchers Kyle Ryan and Robbie Ray, infielder Hernan Perez, and outfielders Tyler Collins and Steven Moya. Moys was the Double-A Eastern League MVP, after hitting 35 home runs at Erie. He also struck out 161 times in 133 games.

Brewers Drop Fifth Straight
The Brewers lost their fifth game in a row, dropping an ugly 15-5 decision to the Giants. Kyle Lohse gave up seven runs over 5-2/3rds innings.

The Brewers face the Cubs in Chicago this afternoon. Jimmy Nelson will start against former Tiger Jacob Turner.

The Cardinals won, so Milwaukee drops into a first-place tie with Saint Louis in the National League Central Division.

Milwaukee centerfielder Carlos Gomez injured his wrist while swinging his bat during the third inning of yesterday’s game. Initial x-rays showed no serious damage, but he’ll need further evaluation.

The Brewers picked up reliever Jonathan Broxton from the Reds in exchange for two players to be named later. Broxton will serve as a setup man for closer Francisco Rodriguez.
