Finlandia Celebrates Documentary

Finlandia University will be presenting a film from a local film maker, Kristin Ojaniemi, at the Finnish American Heritage Center next Thursday as part of the Center’s Nordic Film Series.

The Bruce Crossing-based filmmaker traveled to Finland earlier this year to conduct interviews for the documentary entitled “Co-operatively Yours”

A few months ago, Ojaniemi completed production which chronicles the Finnish co-operative movement in North America through the story of Settlers Co-op in Bruce Crossing, which celebrated its centennial this year.
The Finnish national broadcasting company, YLE, has purchased exclusive rights to show the film in Finland, and has already indicated they will show the documentary at least three times during 2018.
Ojaniemi will attend both screenings of the 72-minute documentary and will be available for questions after each showing. DVDs of the film will be available for sale with two showings on November 9th. The first at 2:00 p.m. and the second at 6.
