Two Hancock Officers Receive Life Saving Award

Two Hancock Police officers are being hailed as heroes.

Corporal Jeremy Lassila and Officer Lundy Castro were the first to respond to a call of an accident in Quincy Township on August 30th.

A resident had been on his riding lawn mower when he accidentally fell down a deep ravine and landed with the mower on top of him.

The officers’ quick response to the scene allowed them to pull the heavy machine off the man, who then began to breathe again and regain consciousness.

The officers were each presented a life saving award at Wednesday’s meeting of the Hancock City Council.

This was the fourth time that life saving awards were presented to officers of the Hancock Police Department in the last two and a half years.
