Keweenaw National Historical Park Seeking Volunteers to Help Improve Roadside Park

Local residents are encouraged to join other volunteers tomorrow at Canyon Falls roadside park, located on US-41, 10 miles south of L’Anse. The Keweenaw National Historical Park, along with the Peter Wolfe Chapter and the Forestry Department of Michigan Tech is making repairs to the park. Volunteers will be offloading gravel, provided by Michigan Tech, that will be used to improve conditions along the hiking trail that leads to the waterfalls. Currently, the trail contains sections of missing boardwalk, large tree roots and mud holes making it difficult for some hikers to getr to the falls.  Participants should arrive at the park before 1:00 pm and are asked to bring gloves, water bottles, and shovels and wheel barrels if you have them.
