It’s the day many parents in the Copper Country have been waiting for, the kids are back in school!
That means there are some things everyone needs to be aware of to make sure the kids make it to and from school safely.
The roads will have more traffic now that summer is over.
Drivers are reminded to slow down and pay attention when kids are around, especially before and after school.
Don’t block crosswalks when stopped at a light or turning and watch out for crossing guards helping children to cross the street.
Never pass a stopped school bus from behind if it is loading or unloading children and all traffic must stop if the bus’s yellow or red flashing lights are on and the stop arm is extended.
Drivers are also reminded to take extra caution when dropping off or picking up a child at school and to watch out for bicyclists.
