OB/GYN Care Expands for Patients at Aspirus Keweenaw

LAURIUM, Mich. – Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital and Clinics proudly welcomes Obstetrician/Gynecologist Lance Maki, MD, and Certified Nurse Midwife Cindy Beale, CNM, to its team of highly skilled medical providers. Dr. Maki and Beale are now seeing patients at two convenient locations:  Aspirus Laurium and Aspirus Houghton clinics.

Dr. Maki brings 30 years of OB/GYN experience and joins James Feeley, MD, in delivering comprehensive care for women at every age and every life stage. Dr. Maki earned his medical degree from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, and he is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecologists. Special interests include gynecological surgery and women’s functional and regenerative medicine.

Proud of his Finnish background, Dr. Maki said, “I love the people here, the old-fashioned values and hockey. This is my heritage so I couldn’t be happier to be here caring for people in this community.”

Beale joins Certified Nurse Midwife Christiann Rosemurgy in growing midwifery and women’s health care locally. She has been a practicing midwife for more than a decade, earning her Master of Nursing degree from Frontier Nursing University in Hyden, Kentucky. Special interests include adolescent care, contraception, gynecology, well-woman visits, labor and delivery, menopause, and herbal medicine for women.

Beale’s greatest passions are in guiding women along their birthing journey and fulfilling their wishes for the most memorable experiences possible.

“It’s such an exciting and transformational time in their life,” Beale says, “I really enjoy helping them achieve the birthing experience they’ve always wanted and were hoping for.”

With the growing OB/GYN team at Aspirus Keweenaw, moms and families now have even greater access to a variety of labor and delivery options, from traditional and holistic, including water birth, to epidurals and nitrous oxide for pain relief.
