Houghton
Dwayne “Hutti” Hokenson, 55, of Houghton, passed away early Monday morning, August 28, 2017, at UP Health System of Marquette, after a short illness, with his family by his side.
A life long resident of Houghton, Dwayne was born on September 20, 1961, to George “Earl” and Alice Hokenson. Dwayne attended Houghton Portage Schools and was united in marriage to Jean Julio on August 20, 1983. Together they raised their three sons in Houghton. He is survived by his wife Jean, and their children Kevin (Michelle), Eric and Nicholas.
Dwayne was most recently employed at the US Post Office in Calumet and Houghton. Before that, he was a Transit Driver for the City of Houghton. He also served a short time on the Houghton Fire Department where he was awarded Firefighter of the Year and the Bravery Award in 2003 along with fellow fire fighter Robert “Bubba” Megowen, Dwayne enjoyed spending his time going to the Casino with his wife, and socializing with many of his friends at the B and B Bar in Houghton. His favorite times were reminiscing of his high school days. Dwayne was also an avid Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Flyers fan. One of Dwayne’s favorite things to do was to watch Impractical Jokers, and the Ellen Show on TV with his granddaughter, Vera, the apple of his eye.y
Dwayne is survived by his wife Jean, and their three children, Kevin (Michelle) of Ishpeming and their daughter Vera Lynn; Eric and Nicholas, both at home. Dwayne is also survived by siblings Janice Edwards of Marquette, George Hokenson of Tennessee, Allan Hokenson of Chassell, Steve (Debbie) Hokenson of Marquette, Beverly Hokenson of Marquette, Chrissy Hokenson of Marquette, Tracy (Michelle) Hokenson of Dollar Bay, sister-in-law Alice Hokenson of L’Anse, aunt, Dorene (Babe) Arid of Laurium, and his mother-in-law, Doris Julio of Laurium, brother-in-laws Steven (Robin) Julio of Chaplin, MN, Michael (Amy) Julio of Phoenix, AZ, James Julio of Orlando, FL, sister-in-law Vicky (Chris) Roy of Hancock and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Dwayne in death, were his parents, George and Alice Hokenson, brother Michael Hokenson, and sisters Judith Engman, Margaret Antilla and Cindy Richards, nephew Scott Engman and father-in-law Donald Julio.
He was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
