President and CEO John Niemela said the Hope House Homeless Shelter is closer to becoming operational.
The paperwork to make Hope House a non-profit organization is on the way to the IRS and the process to receive the 501 (c) 3 status will begin.
At the end of September, Hope House will be hosting two community meetings where the community and churches may get their final questions answered.
The meetings will be held on September 25th. One will be in the afternoon from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and the other will be in the evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Anyone interested in learning about Hope House Homeless Shelter and how it will work and benefit the homeless in Baraga, Houghton and Keweenaw counties is welcome.
First Methodist Church at 401 Quincy St. in Hancock, a shelter “Host partner,” will host both meetings.
There is still a need for more churches to be “Host partners” with the shelter, and Niemela said that he hopes there will be at least six after the meeting.
