Fort Wilkins Historic State Park is hosting the 11th Annual Geocaching Event on Saturday, September 9th.
Geocacing is a high tech treasure hunt where particpants will use their personal GPS unit to search using coordinates furnished by the park.
Since there is no cell service in Copper Harbor, they ask that participants bring their own GPS and not rely on ones in their phones.
Registration is from 9 a.m.-10 a.m. at the Picnic Shelter and there will be a hot dog lunch and prizes awarded at 2:30 p.m.
Everyone is welcome and it is free to participate, but a Michigan State Park Recreation Passport is required for park entry.
This event is sponsored by Fort Wilkins Historic State Park in partnership with the Fort Wilkins Natural History Association and donations from local businesses. Visit Fort Wilkin’s website, geocaching.com or call (906)289-4215 for more information.
