MLB
The Detroit Tigers broke their six-game losing streak with a 6-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers yesterday. Both Justin Verlander and Kenta Maeda took no-hitters into the sixth inning. Verlander’s bid ended when Curtis Granderson homered – the only run Verlander would allow over eight innings. The Tigers responded with four runs in the bottom of the sixth, on a two-run double by Dixon Machado, and a two-run homer by Justin Upton. Miguel Cabrera’s two-run double in the eighth added some insurance.
The Tigers have today off, and host the New York Yankees tomorrow night. Matthew Boyd will start against Masahiro Tanaka. Pregame coverage will start at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
Jesús Aguilar slammed two home runs, as the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Colorado Rockies 8-4 yesterday. Chase Anderson gave up a run over five innings in his return from the disabled list.
The Brewers open a West Coast road trip at San Francisco tonight. Zach Davies will pitch against Chris Stratton.
The Cubs won, and the Cardinals lost, so Milwaukee continues to trail Chicago by two games in the National League Central Division. St. Louis is three-and-a-half games out.
