Michigan Tech students will be out foraging and feasting in the field this weekend for their final exam in a Wild Edible Foods course.
The course is taught by Michigan Tech research assistant professor Tara Bal of the School of Forest Resources and Environmental Science.
Bal introduced the course this year, teaching how to identify edible foods in the wild, gather and taste what they find, while learning different techniques and recipes.
Students in the non-traditional course have been waiting for a chance to find, identify and consume the plants they’ve been studying.
