What a Ride … In!
Beautiful day, Beautiful ride and okay, beautiful people on “Ride In” ride of July 16th. We had 15 machines; two horses along with 24 people join us on our ride. The machines left at 10:00 a.m. from Stannard Park heading east on the SB multi-use trail for our first stop at Agate Falls. We stopped at a very nice parking place where we could walk down to see the falls. With all the rain, the water was flowing beautifully and the falls was more than worthy of a 2 GB card full of pictures. The walk down was in the shade and really a very nice walk in and with nature.
After visiting the falls, we back tracked a couple miles on the SB and rode south on the LL trail, destination Bond Falls. What a nice ride with skies so blue and temps just about perfect for riding. Yes, we had a little dust, but machines were spaced out just about right to minimize the only irritant of the day.
Upon exiting the LL we headed east on the CW trail to Bond Falls. It is a true treasure for those of us who love the outdoors. Again, with all the rain we have had, the water was flowing quickly and the falls was worthy of another 2 gig card of photos. After viewing the falls and visiting with each other we loaded up and started back to the Stannard Park and our picnic.
The ride back was just as nice, if not better than the way down. We met a number of other riders who were also out enjoying the day. Is it not nice to meet people along the trail and they are always happy and wave with a smile? Is it the beauty of the outdoors, just riding, people we meet or a combination of that which makes it so great to be out and riding?
It seemed like we just left the falls and the park came into sight. As we pulled into the park, we were met by Cathy Wainio, Janet Miesbauer and Khris and Brenda Kennedy who had been preparing the picnic. They had cooked all the hot dogs, brats and had all the trimmings ready to eat. Nice, very nice folks. Thank you. We even had table cloths on the tables. The food was great as was the company. More on that later. After lunch, we took a group picture complete with Cathy and Janet’s horses. Actually, many pictures were taken and you may have seen some of them on Face Book or our web page.
Well, I may be a little biased, but this was just a great day for a ride, with great people and ending in a great picnic. Thank you all for coming and making it such a great time. It would not have been the same without you.
Our next ride is on August 16th where we will be going from Petty Coat Junction (located just south of Rousseau on Pori Road) to Sidnaw for lunch (on your own) and return. This a very scenic ride, mostly through the Ottawa National Forest. See our Face Book page and web page for more information. And, a bonus ride is being planned by MI-TRALE member, Bruce DePree who will lead us from L’Anse to the Summit of Mount Arvon – Michigan’s Highest Point. This will occur on August 19th, the Free ATV Weekend! Invite you friends to ride as this weekend does not require stickers to ride. It is free! September has two rides, but more on that later. I will say, they also should not be missed. Okay a teaser….. one is on a brand new trail. The second is with over a hundred riders and a free lunch. Who said there are no free lunches?
Again, thanks to all the folks who made our July 16th ride possible. MI-TRALE has a great team who love what we do for not only the riders but our community, businesses and most importantly, our environment.
