Justin Upton’s three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth lifted the Detroit Tigers to a 7-4 victory over the Chicago White Sox yesterday. Justin Verlander struggled early for Detroit, and left in the third inning with a tight groin muscle. He was charged with two runs. The Tigers scored one in the fourth on a J.D. Martinez home run, and took the lead with a three-run sixth. The Sox tied it with two runs off Alex Wilson in the eighth. Justin Wilson got the win in relief.
After sweeping Chicago, the Tigers have today off, and open a home set against the Los Angeles Angels tomorrow night. Daniel Norris will pitch against Jesse Chavez. Pregame coverage will begin at 6:45 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.
Verlander’s injury is not believed to be serious.
Detroit outfielder Tyler Collins has cleared waivers, and been assigned to Toledo. He was recently designated for assignment by the team.
Zach Davies turned in six shutout innings, as the Milwaukee Brewers blanked the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-0 yesterday. Eric Thames and Domingo Santana homered for the Crew.
The Brewers entertain the San Francisco Giants tonight. Junior Guerra will start against Jeff Samardzija.

The Nashville Predators host the Pittsburgh Penguins as the Stanley Cup playoffs continue tonight. The Penguins lead the Predators two games to one.
NBA
The Golden State Warriors ripped the Cleveland Cavaliers 132-113 last night. The Warriors lead the NBA championship series two games to none. Game three will be played Wednesday in Cleveland.
