Volunteers To Place American Flags At Graves Of Veterans For Memorial Day

Volunteers will once again place over 1,350 small U.S. flags on the graves of veterans in honor of Memorial Day.

The Keweenaw Detachment #1016 Marine Corps League is organizing the effort for this Saturday at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton.

Volunteers are asked to be there at 9am.

They’ll receive lists and maps to make sure all veterans are honored and choice of areas is first come-first served.

Participants are reminded to dress for the weather, as it could be cold and rainy.

A lunch of hot dogs, chips and lemonade will be provided after.

If you’d like something more to drink, or omething hot, you’ll have to bring that.

If you have any questions or would like to know more, contact Paul D. Smigowski, Chief of Staff Keweenaw Det.#1016 Marine Corps League, at smigpd@gmail.com by phone 906-296-0204.
