Voters To Decide On Houghton-Portage Twp School Bond Proposal

Tuesday, May 2nd, is Election Day and there are a few important items on the ballot, depending on your area.

The biggest one is a bond proposal from the Houghton-Portage Township Schools for facility upgrades.

The $10.8 million dollar project would result in an increase of 0.75 mills from the current rate, resulting in a total millage rate of 2.5 mills for 25 years.

The project would include a new drop off/pick up area for the elementary school and new athletic facilities at the high school and middle school.

Other important items include a sinking fund millage in the Ontonagon School District, an Emergency Services Millage Renewal for Police and Fire in the Village of Lake Linden and a bond proposal for those in the NICE School District for a new gym at Westwood High School.
