Two People Injured In Crash

Two people were injured in a crash yesterday afternoon in Portage Township.

The Houghton County Sheriff’s Department responded to the crash around 3:20pm on US-41 near Pump House Road.

Authorities say the accident happened when a one-ton pickup truck, driven by a 56-year-old man, was leaving Superior Rent-All’s parking lot when it was struck by a southbound SUV driven by an 18-year-old man.

The 56-year-old driver of the pickup truck had to be extricated by Hurontown Fire and Rescue using the Jaws of Life.

Both men were taken to U.P. Health System—Portage by Mercy EMS for treatment.

Their conditions have not been reported.

The 56-year-old man was cited for failing to yield.
