Mohawk Secretary Of State Now Open Two Days A Week

Secretary of State Ruth Johnson reminds residents that the Mohawk office is now open two days a week instead of one.

The office at 3616 U.S. Highway 41 will have business hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays through the end of October, when it will return to one-day-a-week service as it adjusts to the lower seasonal business volume.

Hours remain 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The office closes for lunch from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. both days.

The Mohawk office opened in January 1999 and is the first full-service Secretary of State office in Keweenaw County.

Customers who need to renew their tabs and driver’s licenses, get a duplicate registration or title, change their address or register to be an organ donor can simply hop online to ExpressSOS.com.

With its Print ’N Go feature, ExpressSOS allows customers to renew their driver’s licenses and tabs for their vehicles, motorcycles or boats, print their receipt and drive legally until they get their card or sticker in the mail. On their eighth year, customers do need to visit a branch to get a new driver’s license so they can pass a vision test and get an updated photo.
