Click on the bold scores for more details.

MLB
The Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox were rained out in their baseball season-opener yesterday. They’ll try again this afternoon. The forecast calls for cloudy skies, but just a slight chance of rain. Justin Verlander will start against José Quintana. Pregame coverage will begin at 1:45 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

Guerra

The Milwaukee Brewers fell behind early, scored five times in the fifth inning to take the lead, but eventually lost their season-opener to the Colorado Rockies 7-5. Milwaukee starter Junior Guerra gave up two runs before leaving with a calf injury in the third inning. Those teams meet again tonight in Milwaukee. Zach Davies will pitch against Tyler Anderson.

Guerra strained the calf while laying down a sacrifice bunt. He’s headed to the 10-day disabled list, but will probably be out for longer than that.

Svechnikov

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings edged the Ottawa Senators 5-4 in a shootout last evening. Five different Wings scored as Detroit build a 5-3 lead eight minute into the third period. Ottawa scored twice to force overtime. Evgeny Svechnikov scored the game-winner in the seventh round of the shootout in his NHL debut. Those teams play again tonight at Ottawa. Faceoff is at 7:30 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

The Detroit Pistons return to action tomorrow at Toronto. Tip-off is at 7:30 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.
