GLHL

The Calumet Wolverines were eliminated from the Great Lakes Hockey League tournament Friday, falling 11-4 to the Marquette Mutineers and 8-1 to the Fond du Lac Bears in pool play. The Portage Lake Pioneers dropped their first pool game Friday, 5-4 to the Eagle River Falcons. Hunter Kero scored all four Pioneers’ goals. The Pioneers wrap up pool play against the Mosinee Papermakers this morning. Pregame coverage will begin around 11:15 on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com. If the Pioneers win today, they would tie Mosinee in their pool. However, the GLHL tie-breaking procedure would require them to win by five or more goals to earn the pool’s guaranteed position in the semifinals. The winners of each of the pools will advance, along with one wild card team.

The Detroit Pistons lost a wild 108-105 overtime decision to the Milwaukee Bucks Friday night. Detroit suffered through another cold start – trailing 22-4 early in the game. After playing four games in five days, Detroit is off until a trip to Toronto on Wednesday. Tip-off is at 7:30 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

With five games remaining, the Pistons trail the Pacers by two-and-a-half games in the race for the final Eastern Conference playoff spot, with the Bulls and Hornets in between.
