Calumet To Join State’s Redevelopment Ready Program

The Calumet Village Council adopted a resolution to participate in the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s Redevelopment Ready Community program.

Under the program, the village would strive to operate under six best practices set by the state.

The state looks favorably on communities in the program when considering grant applications.

One of the necessary components of being a Redevelopment Ready Community is to have a website–something the Village of Calumet does not currently have.

The council approved a grant application to the Advisory Council of the Keweenaw National Historical Park for $2,000, which the village would have to match if they decide to contract out the design of the website.
