UP STEM Science Fair at the MUB at MTU
Time: 4:30pm – 7:30pm

Buffet supper included
We need a few volunteers to help us for 1-3 hours with the CCRI Recycling booth. We have several activities for kids (Trash or Treasure, Garbage pizza, Which container holds the most? – CCRI member will be there to show you how each activity works).

This is a fun event. Many families attend and they are looking for interesting activities. You could also take a look at the Science Fair in the Ballroom while you are there.

Garbology study at Houghton High School
Time 3:30-5:50 pm

Laurie Davis’s Ecology Club will be conducting a Garbology study (sorting and weighing all the school trash for the day).  This is valuable data that will be sent to MDEQ for their data base. This is a excellent activity for people to actually see what we send to the landfill and what could be recycled.

Everyone is provided with plastic gloves. Your job would be to just chat with the students while they are working, about the importance of recycling and help them decide what can be recycled.
