A South Range man is facing five felony drug charges after being arrested in Houghton County.

On Tuesday, detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET) conducted an investigation that led to the arrest of 24 year old Charles Lester Knuckles.

The suspect was arrested at his residence in South Range following the execution of a search warrant by the detectives.

Detectives also seized prescription pills, suspected heroin, and crystal meth.

Knuckles was charged with four counts of Delivery/Manufacture of a Controlled Substance, each seven year felonies, and one count of Delivery/Manufacture of Heroin, a 20 year felony.

The suspect is lodged at the Houghton County Jail on a $250,000 cash bond.

He is scheduled to be back in court again on February 24th at 10:00am for a preliminary exam.

The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are pending.

UPSET was assisted by the Michigan State Police Calumet Post, the Houghton County Sheriff’s Department, the Keweenaw Bay Tribal Community K-9 Unit, the Michigan State Police Emergency Support Team and the Hancock City Police Department.
