Volunteers Needed For Recycling Success Celebration

Recycling Anniversary Flyer 01.25.17 FINAL

Volunteers are needed for the One Year Celebration of Recycling in Houghton County.

The event takes place February 4th at the Portage Lake District Library.

Help is needed to set up on Friday from 3:00 to 5:00pm and to oversee a kids’ activity on Saturday from 11:00am to 1:00pm.

Please contact Carol at cekstrom3@gmail.com to help with this event.

The event is to celebrate all of the recycling successes in the last year at a special fun-filled event.

Lots of fun hands-on activities for kids are planned including Green Cleaners, Sing-a-long, Toy & Book Swap, Recycled Art, Read Aloud, Cardboard Recycling, and Make Recycled Instruments & Performance.

You can learn about the MTU Energy Demonstration House and backyard composting, hear a recycling report for Houghton & Keweenaw Counties, and there will be a recycling award.

Be sure to bring your TOYS & BOOKS (in good condition) to SWAP! One person’s trash is another’s treasure!

The event is sponsored by the Copper Country Recycling Initiative, Portage Lake District Library, Western U.P. Center for Science, Mathematics and Environmental Education, and Lake Superior Stewardship Initiative
