It’s open to players from fourth grade through adult. The cost is $80.00 for a four-person team. Sign up by April 3rd here.

NMU
Both Northern Michigan University basketball teams host Lake Superior State tonight.

Mrazek

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings came from three goals down, and edged the Boston Bruins 6-5 in a shootout last night. The Bruins scored those three goals in the first nine minutes off Jared Coreau, who was then replaced by Petr Mrazek. Mrazek stopped 23 of 25 shots, as the Wings climbed back into the game. Tomas Tatar had a goal and two assists. Gustav Nyquist’s third-period tally forced the overtime. Thomas Vanek and Frans Nielsen scored for Detroit in the shootout. The Wings skate at Buffalo tomorrow. Faceoff is at 7:00 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

Jackson

NBA
The Detroit Pistons scored 42 points in the quarter, and went on to defeat the Atlanta Hawks 118-95 last night. Reggie Jackson led Detroit with 27 points. Andre Drummond scored 13 points and grabbed 17 rebounds. The Pistons have won two in a row, and entertain the Washington Wizards Saturday night. Tipoff is at 6:00 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

Gose

MLB
The Detroit Tigers have added another potential center fielder to their roster. They picked up Mikie Mahtook from the Rays yesterday. Tampa will receive either cash, or a player to be named later in exchange. Mahtook is 27 years old. He’s a former first-round draft choice who’s split time between the Rays and the minors over the past two seasons. To make room for him on the roster, the Tigers designated center fielder Anthony Gose for assignment. Gose could remain with the club if he clears waivers.

Rodriguez

Former Detroit Tigers catcher Ivan Rodriguez has been voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Rodriguez just cleared the 75 percent margin of votes that he needed to earn induction his first time on the ballot. He spent the first 12 years of his career with the Rangers, then joined the Tigers as a free agent and led them to the World Series in 2006. Jeff Bagwell and Tim Raines were also voted into the Hall this year.

The NFL playoffs continue this weekend. Hear both conference championship games, and the Super Bowl February 5th on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.
