Hancock City Council Meeting

At yesterday’s Hancock City Council meeting, the council received the draft final sewer flow report which showed that the district from Conrad-Shafter down to Portage Lake may have higher than normal sewage flow. The final report will be presented at the next council meeting. The council approved the establishment of a SmartZone satellite in the city of Marquette and City Manager Glen Anderson says the partnership is a win-win for both communities.

The council also approved a $480,000 grant application to the Michigan State Housing Development Authority for a combined homebuyer purchase rehab and grant plus a homeowner rehabilitation grant which Anderson says gives the city the necessary funds to take care of homes that need some work.

An appropriation of $250 for the Parade of Nations in September was also approved by the council.
