Items Still Needed For Little Brothers’ Thanksgiving Dinners

Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly are in need of food items and volunteers for this Thursday’s Thanksgiving Dinners.

The organization provides community meals in five counties for elderly friends who would otherwise be alone for the holiday.

Program Director Carol Korpela says they have enough turkey for the dinner, but are in need of other items.

About 70 turkeys are cooked up for the event and though there are enough for Thanksgiving, you can still donate a turkey and it will be used for their Christmas Dinner next month.

Donations of food items are needed right away. The food will be delivered to the sites starting Wednesday morning.

Dinners will be served at 1:00pm Thursday at the following locations:

Hancock – Church of the Resurrection

Calumet – Sacred Heart Church

Houghton – St. Ignatius Church

Tapiola – Doelle Senior Center

South Range – Grace Lutheran Church

Copper City – Copper City Community Building

Ontonagon – Holy Family Church

Baraga – St. Ann’s Church

Marquette – St. Christopher’s Catholic Church

Meals will also be delivered to home-bound seniors. Deliveries will begin at noon from Grace United Methodist Church in Houghton, and the Apostolic Lutheran Church in Laurium.

To arrange a meal delivery, or reserve a place at a sit-down dinner, call the Little Brothers office in Hancock at 482-6944. For more information, click here.
