Michigan Tech hockey coach Mel Pearson earned his 100th career win, as the Huskies pounded 20th ranked Lake Superior State 6-1 Friday night. Jake Jackson and Gavin Gould each scored twice. Angus Redmond stopped 24 shots to earn the win. The Huskies and Lakers play again tonight. Faceoff is at 7:07 at the MacInnes Student Ice Arena.

The MTU volleyball team lost 3-1 (21-25, 25-15, 13-25, 24-26) to Saginaw Valley State Friday. The Huskies wrap up their regular season against Lake Superior State this afternoon at 4:00 at the SDC.

The Tech football team wraps up its season at home against Findlay. Kickoff is at 1:00 this afternoon at Sherman Field.

Both Michigan Tech basketball teams begin their seasons today. The women’s squad tips off at Minnesota-Duluth. The men’s team will be in Romeoville, Illinois for the GLIAC/GLVC Challenge. They’ll face Lewis tonight, and Wisconsin-Parkside tomorrow afternoon.

The Northern Michigan University hockey team fell to Bowling Green 5-1 Friday night. Thos teams play again tonight in Marquette.

The Wildcats football team concludes its season on the road at Tiffin today.

NMU Logo HeadThe NMU men’s basketball team will join Michigan Tech at the GLIAC/GLVC Challenge in Illinois. The Wildcats will face Wisconsin-Parkside tonight, and Lewis tomorrow. The Northern women’s team will play at the GLIAC/GLVC Challenge at Grand Valley State. They’ll face Truman State University tonight, and Quincy University tomorrow.

The Finlandia University women’s hockey team lost 7-1 to eighth-ranked Lake Forest College Friday afternoon. The Lions were outshot 55-16. The women’s team will welcome Marian University tomorrow at 4:45.

The men’s hockey team dropped a 5-2 decision to Concordia-Wisconsin Friday night. The Falcons opened up a 3-0 lead midway through the second period, and were never headed. Alec Rounds stopped 25 shots in net for the Lions. Those teams play again this afternoon at 4:00 at the Houghton County Arena.

The result of the Portage Lake Pioneers’ game against West Bend Bombers Friday night was not reported. The Pioneers visit the Fox Cities Ice Dogs tomorrow night.

The Red Wings will be without forward Andreas Athanasiou for a week or two. He hurt his knee in Thursday’s game. Anthony Mantha has been called up from Grand Rapids to fill in.

The Detroit Pistons lost their third straight game Friday night, 96-86 to the San Antonio Spurs. Andre Dummond led Detroit with 20 points and 17 rebounds. The Pistons made just one of 12 three-point attempts in the second half. Detroit plays at Denver tonight.

The Green Bay Packers visit the Tennessee Titans for a 1:00 game on Sunday. The Pack will be without Clay Matthews, who is out with a bad hamstring. See the full injury report here.

The Milwaukee Brewers and manager Craig Counsell have agreed to a three-year contract extension. Added to the one year remaining on his existing contract, the deal will keep Counsell in a Milwaukee uniform through the 2020 season.
