With just one week to go to the election, this is a critical time to ensure voter turnout.
Governor Rick Snyde visited the Upper Peninsula to support local candidates in that effort.
State Representative Candidate Beau LaFave is running in the 108th District.
“It’s incredibly important, we’ve already had thousands of people across the Upper Peninsula and in the 108th district vote absentee, but 70 percent of all the votes are going to happen on Tuesday November 8th.”
Snyder was in Escanaba Monday along with current 108th District State Representative Ed McBroom.
Gov. Snyder said, “Well it’s great to support Beau, it’s important we have great representation in Lansing and he’ll do an outstanding job of representing this district and also the state of Michigan.”
“Well I’m out here today to see the Governor and to continue to provide support in the upcoming election for Mr. LaFave and Mr. (Jack) Bergman,” said 108th District Rep. Ed McBroom.
McBroom agreed with Snyder and LaFave over the importance of keeping young people in the U.P.
And the most important thing needed to keep these young people home–jobs.
“Well one of the big things you heard us talk about is career tech education,” Gov. Snyder said, “The skilled trades.”
LaFave called having Snyder come to the U.P. to campaign for him an honor.
“A lot of people don’t realize that Governor Snyder not only knows where the Upper Peninsula is,” said LaFave, “but he comes here regularly, he cares about the U.P.”
Governor Snyder won’t be in Houghton this evening, but the Republican Candidate for Michigan’s 1st Congressional District will be.
Lt. General Jack Bergman is scheduled to appear at the Ramada Inn in Hancock at 5pm for a Meet & Greet as part of his Protecting Our Values campaign tour.
Bergman plans to tour Precision Tool and Stormy Kromer in Ironwood this morning.
