Michigan First Lady Sue Snyder, a breast cancer survivor, was honored last night at the 22nd annual Heroes of Breast Cancer Awards put on by the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute.
Snyder serves as honorary chair of the Detroit Race for the Cure and this year raised $15,000 for the Karmanos Cancer Institute.
According to the the Institute, 1 in 8 women in Michigan will be diagnosed with the disease, but doctors say with early detection, more people survive.
