Efforts continue to raise money for renovations at the Houghton County Arena.
Dave Hermanson of the Portage Lake Multi-Educational Services, which manages the arena owned by the county, appeared before the Hancock City Council at their regular meeting Wednesday.
Hermanson said they are in the midst of a $1 million project which will include replacing the roof, upgrading the bleachers and purchasing a new ice plant.
He said the county has plans to provide funds for the roof in 2017 but additional money will be needed for the other projects.
With the residents voting on a recreation millage in November, Hermanson said he hopes the city will consider supporting the arena.
The council tabled any action on the matter until after the election.
