Jimmy Howard made 32 saves, as the Detroit Red Wings edged the New York Rangers 2-1 last night. Howard gave up a score just 69 seconds into the game, then stopped the next 31 shots, including three breakaways. Thomas Vanek tied the contest in the second period, and Drew Miller tapped in a pass from Luke Glendening for the game-winner early in the third. The Wings host the Nashville Predators tomorrow night. Faceoff is at 7:30 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

The Detroit Pistons closed their exhibition schedule last night with a 103-92 loss to the Toronto Raptors. Andre Drummond led the Pistons with 16 points and 13 rebounds. The Cleveland Indians won the American League pennant last night, with a 3-0 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays. The Indians wrapped up the American League Championship Series four games to one.

The Chicago Cubs broke out of their offensive slump, and bombed the Los Angeles Dodgers 10-2 last night. The National League Championship Series is tied at two wins per team, and will continue tonight in L-A.
