The Blue Jays advanced to the American League Championship Series by sweeping the Rangers with a 7-6, 10-inning victory. Cleveland’s game at Boston was rained out, and will be made up this evening. The Indians lead that series two games to none.

Matt Prater’s 29-yard field goal with 88 seconds remaining lifted the Detroit Lions to a 24-23 win over the Philadelphia Eagles yesterday. Prater’s kick was set up when Tyrunn Walker recovered a Philadelphia fumble. Darius Slay’s sealed the win by picking off a Carson Wentz pass a few seconds later.

Aaron Rodgers threw two touchdown passes, as the Green Bay Packers got past the New York Giants 23-16 last night. Mason Crosby kicked three field goals.

The Detroit Red Wings’ first round of roster cuts cost them a player yesterday. Martin Frk was claimed off waivers by the Carolina Hurricanes. Nick Jensen, Eric Tangradi, Mitch Callahan and Brian Lashoff cleard waivers, and have been assigned to the Grand Rapids Griffins along with goaltender Jared Coreau.

Calumet will try to wrap up the WestPAC football title Friday night at Ironwood. Lake Linden-Hubbell will put its unbeaten record on the line Saturday afternoon at home against North Dickinson. Hear both games on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com.
