HOUGHTON – More than 15 non-profit organizations are coming together in the Copper Country Mall commons area to share information with residents about important services and resources available locally.
The Local Human Services Expo takes place at the mall in Houghton on Tuesday, Oct. 25, from noon until 2 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with the organizations and find out what services they provide to help residents of all ages live better. Some of the groups represented will have information about: Early Childhood Services, Mental and Physical Health, Dental Care, Emergency Assistance, Substance Abuse, Domestic Problems, Literacy & Adult Education, Financial Services, and more.
The first 200 to attend will receive a complimentary lunch. The event is free and open to the public.
The expo is sponsored by the Copper Country Human Services Coordinating Body (CCHSCB) and it’s one of the community’s largest gatherings of local service providers. As well, people are encouraged to visit CCSHCB.org to see the COMMUNITY LINK website for a listing of hundreds of local resources available to the community.
Organizations participating in the EXPO include: Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital, Barbara Kettle Gundlach Shelter Home, Copper Country Great Start Collaborative, Copper Country Habitat for Humanity, Copper Country Mental Health, Department of Health and Human Services, Dial Help, Great Lakes Recovery Centers, Superior Alliance for Independent Living, TrueNorth Community Services, Upper Great Lakes Family Health Center, and U.P. Kids.
The CCHSCB is a collaboration of more than 20 member organizations that provide hundreds of services to meet the needs of individuals, children and families in Houghton, Keweenaw and Baraga counties.
