Hancock Residents Double Amount Of Recyclables

Relatively smoothly, that’s how Hancock Public Works Director Bill Marlor described the first couple of weeks under the new curbside recycling process for Hancock.

Marlor said residents are adjusting to the changes in pickup times and routes since Waste Management was contracted to handle trash and recycling services for the city.

A number of downtown businesses are also joining in on the effort.

Marlor said the volume of trash picked up over the last two weeks was 23 tons, with nine tons of recyclables picked up in that same time period.

Marlor said nine tons was about the maximum they used to pick up for recycling in a month.
