Changes are coming to the Lake Superior Performance Rally.
A presentation was given to the Hancock City Council at their regular meeting Wednesday outlining some of those changes.
Representatives say there has been a push by some to move the race out of the Copper Country to Marquette County.
To combat that, organizers want to feature more of the race in the cities of Houghton and Hancock, providing a better experience for spectators.
The first stage of the race begins in Hancock at the Houghton County Fairgrounds
The final stage of the race will be run along the waterfront on Lakeshore Drive in Houghton.
Local businesses may also see a benefit to bringing part of the race into the downtown.
The Lake Superior Performance Rally will be held October 14th and 15th and is the eight and capstone event of the 2016 Rally America National Championship Series. More information about the LSPR can be found by clicking here.
Over 80 racers are expected to participate.
