Hancock Police Chief Gives Quarterly Report

The Hancock Police Department has been busy.

In his quarterly report to the city council, Police Chief Wayne Butler outlined the 2nd quarter numbers with the department answering 621 calls for service–up from 593 the previous quarter.

Butler highlighted that they had seen an increase in the number of reports of identity theft or fraud and that alarm calls within the city had gone up “quite drastically”.

Hancock Police made 21 arrests during the months of April through June, a really high number, Butler admits.  But he called it a positive because that means people are being held accountable for what they’re doing.

Butler also thanked the council for the hiring of an additional police officer and the purchase of a new police vehicle.
