VA to Host Veteran Town Halls

IRON MOUNTAIN – The Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center will be hosting a five Veteran Town Halls in the western Upper Peninsula August 15-17, 2016.  Veteran Town Halls will be held on Monday, August 15, at the Windsor Center in Iron River at 11 a.m. (CT) and at the VFW Post in L’Anse at 5 p.m. (ET); on Tuesday, August 16, at the National Guard Readiness Center in Calumet at 1 p.m. (ET) and at the South Range VFW in South Range at 6 p.m. (ET), and on Wednesday, August 17, at the VFW Post in Ontonagon at 10 a.m. (ET).  The town halls are open to all Veterans and their families and friends.

Leaders from the VA medical center, Escanaba Vet Center, Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency, and the County Veteran Service Officers will be on hand to provide a presentation on VA benefits and services, discuss the new Veterans Choice Program, and listen to Veterans’ comments and concerns.

“We have done a number of these Veteran Town Halls and found them to be very beneficial in our understanding of Veterans’ concerns and helping them to resolve any issues they may have,” said Jim Rice, Medical Center Director.

In the last three years the VA medical center has conducted twenty-two Veteran Town Halls throughout the Upper Peninsula and northern Wisconsin.
