Plane Crash Kills Two In Marquette County

The names of the two people killed in Monday’s plane crash have been released.

Michigan State Police say 49-year old Dean Honkala and 48-year-old William Brewer, both from Ishpeming, were the occupants–although it remains undetermined who was piloting the plane.

The crash happened around 8:00pm Monday in Ely Township near Ishpeming

The plane was described as a two-seat, high-wing, single engine aircraft.

The cause of the crash is still unknown at this time.

An investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration is ongoing.

Two people are dead after a plane crashed in the Upper Peninsula Monday.

The plane, described as a two-seat, high-wing, single engine aircraft went down just after 8:00pm near Ishpeming in Ely Township.

Michigan State Police from the Negaunee Post say the two people that were killed were the only ones on the plane and there were no injuries on the ground.

The identities of the victims have not been released at this time.

The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
