The City of Houghton is taking another step to make recycling easier for everyone, including those visiting the downtown or one of the city’s parks.
The City Council approved the purchase of about 30 stand-alone recycling containers of different types to be place throughout the city.
The cost of the containers will be about $10,500 and the recyclables will be collected by the city as part of the new recycling initiative.
Houghton City Manager Eric Waara said this will show that the city is willing to walk the walk, not just talk the talk when it comes to recycling.
The containers are expected to be out when recycling begins next month.
