Surplus Bear Licenses to Be Sold

DNR logoResults of the 2016 bear and elk hunting license drawings have been posted on the Michigan Department of Natural Resources website. The DNR issued 6,896 bear licenses through the drawing. That leaves 99 licenses still available in the Begland Management Unit in the western Upper Peninsula. The licenses are for the third hunt period, which runs from September 25th to October 26th. They will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Holders of Lifetime Comprehensive Licenses who were not selected in the drawing may begin purchasing next Wednesday. Unsuccessful applicants with lesser licenses may begin purchasing on July 13th. Any remaining licenses will be made available to all hunters on July 20th. You’ll find the results of the drawing and purchase instructions for the leftover licenses at www.michigan.gov/huntdrawings.
